Founder Story

Hello, I’m Caroline, the founder of St. Kéa Celtic Apothecary.
My maternal family has lived in the Somerset area for generations, with a long history of community-based businesses. The village of Street, where my mother grew up, was once called “Lagon Kéa” or the “Land of Kéa”—a name that eventually evolved into the "Street to Glastonbury."
I first climbed Glastonbury Tor at the age of three with my mother, just as my grandmother had done before us. The experience of standing at the summit in the years since, gazing out over the mystical landscape, filled me with wonder and grounding. My recall my grandfather carrying me on his shoulders through the spring blossom in a local cider apple orchard, breathing in the sweet aroma of spring apple blossoms, developing a deep empathy for the land of ethereal Somerset.
Sceptical and questioning by nature, I became increasingly frustrated by the lack of accessible, reliable natural solutions for what I saw as natural life experiences—rather than illnesses to be medicalized. The challenges of menopause, the struggle to maintain focus with ADHD, and the need for natural hormonal support for young women. All of this could be supported by rich traditions of botanical healing. This led me on a global search to discover plants that could support physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
My journey so far has taken me to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Northern Greece, France, and Nepal, but also around southwest Britain. The healing power of plants has long been a part of the Celtic heritage, and Glastonbury itself, for over 2,000 years, has been a center for healing, spirituality, and pilgrimage.
St. Kéa was born from this unique blend of ancient wisdom and modern knowledge. Integrating the best of Celtic apothecary traditions and the spiritual energy of Glastonbury, our brand exists to offer authentic, effective, and ethically sourced solutions for modern wellbeing challenges.
